So I talked to Brett and he had an absolutely great idea!

I am going to checkout using Foxycart for the purchases (via Authorize.net), and use the XML to create everything needed to download the files on my end. Because I can deliver files now (though it’s clunky), but what I really need/want is a secure and easy shipping/checkout.

So I am going to be looking into this over the next few weeks to see how it goes...

    • Stellar! So how does a FoxyCart mash-up work for locally hosted, downloadable files? Is it configurable on FoxyCart’s end to simply provide a download URL and you’re set? laugh

I haven’t tried it yet. Maybe Brett or anyone from themancan.com can chime in here.

But, from talking to Brett, it seems I could use the XML feed to my site and do whatever I want to do with it.

So at a glance, it seems:
        - Get the XML
        - Insert the relevant info into the db (for receipts, local invoice/order management)
        - Generate an email with the hash
        - When the email is clicked, it uses the filedownload snippet and db to process the hash and send the correct file as a download.

We’ll see as I’ll be looking into this over the next week.

          Hi,

              Thanks kickass,
I already try this and it does not satisfy me, I just need a cart/checkout system, my product are managed as modx document, and I don’t need a "very sophisticated management interface", I tend to use my FrontEnd Document Manager to add-modify the product.

                Hello Everyone,

I just discovered Modx a fex weeks ago, and I´m in the process of reading all documentation to start building my websites with Modx.

I only know the basics for building a site, and right now I´m using macromedia and doing php sites. Also, I know that this section of the forum mught not be the right one for my question, but here it goes.

I´m planning to build different sites with Modx, and have these sites to sell my services online, so I was wondering if with ModxCart or ShopX I can have only one DataBase or Cart (with stocks defined) and show stock availability and let users shop for my fishing services trough these different sites.

If I didn´t explain myself quite good (sorry, I´m from Mexico and I don´t have that much tech language skills).

What I meant with my question is: Let´s imagine that I have 5 different sites where I offer my fishing services. What I want to know is If with ONLY 1 ModxCart or ShopX I can display my services stock availability so my visitors can shop within all my sites and be certain about the Availability that the Cart shows to them?

Also, I want to know if with ModxCart or ShopX I can implement Paypal.

Thank you for all the kind answers you may give.

                Saludos from Mexico.

So where did you land on this Soda? I’m trying to get a test e-commerce site put together. I’m leaning toward some type of foxycart solution, but wanted to get a pulse of what people are using out there for e-commerce solutions.

                  Thanks

This project is posed for now, I don’t find a good solution for me, there is so many payement gateway, sorry but I can’t help you. The product manager is the easy part and I’ve done this easyly but I have nothing solid for the payement part. After trying lot of solutions I think foxycart is one of the better.

                      Soda,

Is there a place to see the product manager?

We could use Foxycart to do the payment gateways and use this to create/edit the products and maybe save the completed orders.
