Problem with sidebar width

Hi all,

I’ve been searching for this for quiet a while now, i you take a look at my modsite http://www.fc-b.be
click on any off the menu items except forum and then look at the content
You will see the left column is filled with content (the one on the light background)
On the right there is a column in a darker colour with no content.

now the question, how do I either remove that column or make it a lot smaller so the left column becomes bigger.
I’m no webcoder/guru but I understand the basics, altough this seems to hard for me.

I hope someone can shed light on this, if not thanks for reading anyway

Maybe it’s a good idea to learn some basic CSS and HTML?

I used the firefox extension web developer to examine the elements, tags, etc on your site.


If you want to do away with the right column, you can either remove it completely or hide it using HTML comment tags. You will do this in your template. The right column is a set of nested divs with the ids <div id="right">  <div id="right-inner">. Comment (or delete) those out in your HTML template in modx.

You also need to comment out (or delete) the CSS references to those divs. Check your CSS file for the ids #right and #right-inner and other related stuff (i.e. related to right and right inner)

Then, you will need to expand the left column to a width of 776 like the rest of the site. Do this in your CSS (layout.css). Find this #left { in your CSS file and change the width to width:776px;

Play around with the CSS to style you site further

it’s one the list to do so one day, after a bunch of other stuff I still need learn, long live IT...

btw, am nor sure if you will be able to edit the css file directly in modx. If you can’t, you can edit it on your computer then upload it to your site..

alright, I figured out the Div’s and how they work ( thank for the hint on the FF extensions, I forgot about them.

as you can see now, if you click the Media tab, you will see the vimeo file is centered and thats how I like it, anyway the right column is still visible.
Is it possible that this is some sort of image??

HA! found it!

it appeared to be inner_776x1.jpg

but because it’s only 1 pixel high I didn’t notice that the right part of the image was slighty darker.

anyway, all is good now, thanks again pal!
