Hi, I’m a newbie to Modx and have set up a basic blog. The jot comments did not work for me so I used the UserComments 1.0 snippet and it works fine. I was wondering if there is any way to let the site admin approve comments before publishing or at the very least delete any comments that are not related to the article or spammy?
Thanks for your time.

Hey Tracy,
I haven’t ever used the UserComments snippet (this one, correct?
http://modxcms.com/usercomments.html) whereas I use Jot on a lot of my sites with no problem. It can handle what you’re asking for in this posting (moderating comments that is). There is also a lot of great documentation on it here:
http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Jot ... what problem specifically were you having with Jot comments?
By the way, welcome to MODx! As a community we really enjoy helping each other out, so we’ll try to walk you through this the best we can.

Thanks for answering my post. I appreciate it.
It did not show comments and didn’t count them. I searched through the forums and tried calling ditto like [! with the jot call [[ and I tried calling them all cacheable.
The link you gave was an empty page(maybe the server was down).

Huh, that was strange. Here’s the link again (I just tried it, it seems to work fine on my end):

It came up blank for me too. When I did a search for "jot" I was taken here (same URL) and found the into.

Weird.
[update] Both the links in this message work, but the link in your original message comes up blank in both FF and IE7.

Yeh, totally weird...not sure why it’s doing that.

Because the first link has a space in the URL.
Right you are -- at the end. You’d think a browser would be smart enough to strip that.

Browsers are stupid, jot is great, i’ve used it a lot....watch for spam tho....ensure you turn on the captcha, I had one site that got hit real bad!
You can also set the time interval between posts, push it up to 60 seconds, as bots will usually try and hammer the script if they think the info is getting posted.
