hi i’m completely new to modx,
i’m installing modx and i got to this screen where i can go no further.

Setup will now attempt to setup the database:
Creating connection to the database: OK!
Selecting database `modxdennis`: Database selection failed...The database does not exist. Setup will attempt to create it.
Creating database `modxdennis`: Database creation failed! - Setup could not create the database!

Setup could not create the database, and no existing database with the same name was found. It is likely that your hosting provider’s security does not allow external scripts to create a database. Please create a database according to your hosting provider’s procedure, and run Setup again.
i got no idea what to do now.
can anyone help me with this.
i have created a database and the name of the database is exactly the same as it is named by the above message.
any help would be nice,

Make sure the DB user you are using has permission to create the database.

The MySQL database was created with Plesk. How can I make sure the user has all the rights he needs?

In the Plesk interface, select the database, then select New Database user.
Fill in the name of the user and the password. This user will have enough rights.
During installation, just fill in this user and password, and I expect you’ll be okay.

at this moment i’ve done what you suggested with plesk.
but it’s still not working im getting the same error as i got first.
that the database could not be found and could not be created.
so what else could there be?

Some control panels will add a prefix to the db and user names, ie: prefix_dbname or prefix_username (this is true in cPanel, I don’t know if plesk does this). Also check for any typos (and case sensitive naming).
