    not much extra-code for developers
    $c->where(array('deleted'=>0));

    but it would be much extra-code for developers, when they had to set, what you had suggested, if they have to process delete/undelete within their extras.

        ... or your idea to solve this is not that good. It changes three fields and at least one field in a not recoverable manner (unpub_date value is lost using your idea).

        But maybe you don't want to hear this.

          @jako - My initial code was just a guess as to how to do it. I am not that knowledgeable about the inner workings. I posted about what I, as a user, saw as area for improvement, figuring others here might expand on that idea. Instead I run into a brick wall of 'modx doesn't need to change'. But I have learned a lession.

            You probably won't believe me, but I've found the MODX community very open to good, constructive suggestions.

            I think your idea about using something other than 'Delete' is a very good one and I've filed a feature request for it here.

            Your other idea is not so good, but to know that, you'd have to be more familiar with how the various resource fields are handled internally by MODX. All the people who responded in this thread are very familiar with the MODX's inner workings, and please believe me, their opinions on this topic have nothing to do with resistance to change. MODX changes all the time.

            I've proposed quite a few spectacularly bad ideas for improvements to MODX, and in spite of having the written MODX: The official guide and composing over 20,000 posts on this Forum, I got shot down just as you were. I'm sure I have more stupid ideas to suggest in the future. Please don't take it personally.

            I'm pretty burned out on this topic, but I did want to mention that resources in MODX are handled exactly as emails are in Gmail (except for the confusing 'Delete' label). You can't delete them except by moving them to the trash and then emptying the trash. When you move them to the trash, no fields are changed except for the one that marks them for removal. If you undelete them, that field is changed back, and they are exactly like they were before -- just like resources in MODX.

            Welcome to MODX smiley
