We recently built a MODX 2.4.2-pl site on MODXcloud.com and used the MODX Login snippet. Everything worked great on the MODX cloud.

After migration to the client's server (standard LAMP setup), we re-ran the MODX setup and everything checked out (after fighting a lot of permission issues). But for whatever reason, the Login snippet when used simply refreshes the page after entering your login credentials and nothing happens.

    Case in point:

    http://files.smashstack.com/1dGy8/5G44y2jt

    Here's the snippet call:

    [[!Login? &loginTpl=`lgnLoginTpl` &logoutTpl=`lgnLogoutTpl` &errTpl=`lgnErrTpl` &loginResourceId=`2091` &logoutResourceId=`2090`]]

We've tried the snippet cached/uncached as well as making the Resource cached/uncached (and every combination possible). We did run into a lot of permission issues when setting up on the server which we had their server admin resolve (directory structures we're not allowing MODX to properly run).

We've also got this warning on the MODX dashboard:

    http://files.smashstack.com/13HtB/4kkuhqdX

We've followed the instructions exactly as outlined to fix the situation, but the warning still continues to show up which leads me to believe we have permission issues on the server which ties into the issue outlined above. My assumption is that these permission issues are preventing sessions from being created for members attempting to login to our membership portal with the Login snippet.

That warning is just a warning. It won't affect anything. It shouldn't interfere with the login process or access to anything.

See if there's anything in the MODX error log (IIRC core/logs/error.log).

        Thanks for the response Bob.

Not much in the MODX error log:

Not seeing any error logs on the server.

Check the DB and see if the modx_context table has a 'name' field. While you're there, check to see if the modx_categories table has a 'rank' field. Sometimes these don't get created in the upgrade process.

It appears I have both of those:

According to the error message, MODX is trying to access a table that should have a 'name' field but doesn't. Do you have any plugins that might be executing on login?

Great question...let me find out on that one and get back to you.

So there's no pre or post hooks attached to that login snippet call...it's just a plain Login snippet call. There's no modifications that we've made on it.

You can disable the plugins in the database (set the 'disabled' field to 1) in the modx_site_plugins table.

Which plugins? Are you asking us to shut all the plugins off except the Login plugin to eliminate any potential plugin conflicts?
