If it's a cache issue, it could show up again. Saving things in the Manager clears the cache and might hide it temporarily.

Good point, though, the error message is called un cached. and I had been down that road several times trying to figure this thing out.........

    a mystery!

My login form always displays Arabic error message if wrong username/password entered.
Any changes to `ar` lexicon are ignored.
      Please advise.

Do you have the correct language in the &language property of the login tag?

If you want to change the lexicon strings, do it in Lexicon Management in the Manager. System (gear icon) -> Lexicons. Any changes you make will survive upgrades. I think they'll be in the Login namespace.

I have the &language=`en`. I also tried other language codes and without the property. No results, only Arabic messages being displayed. The site is EN-only so I'm not interested in any other locales.
I went to Lexicon and changed all AR messages under namespace:core, topic:login and finally got the EN errors. Like I said, a hack. Very strange what makes the site default to AR.

Check the value of the cultureKey System Setting.

              cultureKey solved the problem

              Completely forgot about this.

Can't thank you enough. I spent countless hours on this.
