this is not a question or issue that needs solving, it's an issue i
HAD that i just solved - so i thought i'd offer this up as information in case anybody is ever in the same situation.
for
DAYZ now, i have not been able to save many/most of my resources (documents) & elements (templates, tv's, chunks, & snippets). when i would make an edit (in the manager) & click the Save button, the little "Please Wait... Saving" progress box comes up, but would never go away! i would have to force reload the browser page only to find my edits did NOT save.
i was stuck. i read SO many forum posts about it which lead me to believe the "mod_security" setting on the server was the reason why. i read & read & read whatever i could find about it via Google - all the while trying to reach my host, but i don't always get same-day service there.
i found the way to try & disable it via htaccess, but wasn't too comfortable trying that, because i know my host has done a lot of security tightening these past few years. but, i couldn't do anything else until i heard back from them, so i kept researching.
then suddenly i found a page (
https://rtfm.modx.com/revolution/2.x/getting-started/installation/basic-installation/installation-on-a-server-running-modsecurity#InstallationonaserverrunningModSecurity-ModSecurity%28akamodsecurityormodsec%29) that said i could look in Cpanel to see if mod_security is on/off & possibly make modifications to its settings.
so i looked & found that it was turned OFF!!!
this enlightening info began my tracing my steps backwards & looking at any error log i could find. then suddenly, i remembered i actually installed an Extra the other day. it was the "SyntaxChecker" Extra (
https://modx.com/extras/package/syntaxchecker).
once i UNinstalled that, everything worked just fine again. UGH! a couple days lost on an incompatible plugin.
FYI: i'm running ModX Revolution 2.4.2-pl and that was SyntaxChecker 0.5.0-beta that stopped me up.
