    Hey all, I'm newbie on modx. I got a Modx website to fix. this website's problem is that I receive a 500 error when I load the website doamin, but when I load the website on my localhost it works fine.

    I read that the problem can be coused by the .htaccess file. the thing is that there are about 11 htaccess files in the website's folder.

    what i want is the website to work well in the server
    any help would be great.

    This is one of the htaccess files content

    AuthUserFile /hsphere/local/home/a902508/.statspasswd
    AuthGroupFile /dev/null
    AuthName EnterPassword
    AuthType Basic
    require user a902508
    ### BEGIN do not modify this section ###
    <Files ~ ".(php|php3|php4|php5|phps|phtml|pl|py|cgi)$">
    Order Allow,Deny
    Deny from all
    </Files>
    Options -ExecCGI
    ### END do not modify this section###

    tnx

      There should only be one file with the exact name: .htaccess in the MODX root directory. Do you have more than one?

        thank you for your answer.

        I don't have an .htaccess file in my root directory.
        I have uploaded the website to a different server and there it works great.
        What can cuse that problem? does the framework require some specific php version?

          If this is an older version of MODX, it's likely that the hosting provider upgraded his PHP version and caused the problems. This could be one of two known issues.

          1. Newer versions of PHP require a date.timezone setting in the php.ini
          2. Newer version of PHP have the pass-by-reference argument deprecated (see https://forums.modx.com/thread/99384/edited-a-chunk-and-no-website-totally-down---server-error-500#dis-post-537519)

          both of these problems should show up in your server php error logs.

            Based on other reports, I suspect that for newer versions of PHP without a date.timezone setting, any PHP error will lead to a 500 error when PHP tries to log the time that the error occurred and finds that it doesn't know what time it is.
