best way to getCollection with TV?

What would be the best way of retreiving a collection of resources based on a TV?
or did anyone allready extended 'getCollection' method so we can use TV's in there..

The 2 options i can think of now are:
Getting all resources (based on template or something) and loop through all of them to match the TV on getTVValue..seems not very efficient.
Or
Getting all records from form site_tmplvar_contentvalues Where myTVid = tmplvarid. and then run getResource('contentid') on each of the results...also not very efficient i guess.

I need it for an eventcalendar i set up with 'Collections' and i need to find all resource that have a 'startingdate' bigger then today + 30weeks.
And Modx doesn't have a decent calendar plugin that i know of.

It's an Extra event system coupled with EventBrite ;-)

I didn't know of that Extra. But it is not what i'm looking for.
I really want to know how to do this with modx. I find it really odd that this is not doable with a standard Modx method!
Selecting resources based on a TV sholud be a core method, right? I can't believe i only have the 2 options mentioned above.
So what would be my best approach using Modx?
