Hey There,
I have a client who wants to transfer their MODX site from their current provider onto a new MODX server on HostGator.
Their current provider is using a customized version of MODX and we want to transfer it to a default version of MODX.
I'm having trouble finding any help in the documentation for transferring from a custom version of MODX, is something like this possible and does anyone have a idea on what the best way of doing this is?

It depends on exactly what you mean by "customized".

HostGator is not known for being very good at hosting MODX sites. Is this their regular shared hosting?
We use Vapor,
https://support.modx.com/hc/en-us/articles/217295707-Import-a-MODX-Revolution-Site-with-Vapor see the "Using Vapor with FTP/HTTP" section (that's how I do it) to package up and transfer entire MODX builds. Maybe give that a shot.
Unpacking the Vapor in the new location will overwrite EVERYTHING on the new site so only install it on a blank MODX install.

Note that Vapor can time out on very large sites unless you can run it from the command line.
