I have built several sites using Modx but I am still somewhat unfamiliar with everything out there.

The basic idea I am trying to create is for users to be able to chat in real time but also have the conversation saved so that the dialog can continue over time, much like a forum.

The set up is for doing consultation work. Here is the process that I am looking to create. The user is prompted to start a dialog and then clicks a link to take them to a page where they can enter a login and password. They are then allowed to begin the conversation. The user and admin/operator are the only ones allowed in the conversation. There could potentially be multiple conversations going on. Some live and some spread out over days. So am not sure how that would be handled on the backend. I am planning on using Modx to manage the login and user profiles as well as the rest of the site. I was wondering what kind of solutions there are to what we are trying to accomplish with the forum/chat for consultation. Anymore insight would be great.

    Thanks

Add in SMF forum integration with access restricted pages. Users sign up and they are directed to a unique page where only you and the customer can chat.

Or have access permission pages. Users login, directed to unique page and just have the basic jot comment feature installed.

Not sure what kind of wiki you could build into Modx but could be interesting

Thanks for the response. I’ll play around with those options.
