That depends on how the images are stored. You can import images into the Gallery from site's filesystem.
Personally, I'd be inclined to use a MIGX gallery with a media source pointing to your existing images. Although, again, that depends on how well organized your images are.
Thanks again susan!
The images are all in folders within the filesystem, and organised pretty well.
So are you saying to use Migx instead of the gallery extra?

Either way. With Gallery, you'll need to import into Gallery folders from those folders. With MIGX you can set up "albums" each with a Media Source pointing to an existing folder - no duplication.
I don't think you can use arbitrary user-defined folders for Gallery, but then I only used it once several years ago so I'm no expert on it.
Ah Ok great - I didn't realise that with Migx I could call in a folder, I thought the user would have to manually add in all the images one by one - and there are hundreds.

Create a Media Source with your existing folder for the path and URL, then assign that Media Source to the MIGX TV.
Thanks for this.
The only problem I have is that each image needs a title and description. I guess if I'm pulling in from a folder, I have no way to add these - not sure what the best solution is - do I need to just reimport them one by one?

sure, with MIGX, you can add a title and a description to each image.
