This may be a solution... run this in a plugin OnDocFormSave. https://gist.github.com/opengeek/ec3f885cefe17e470aa1

Thanks, sottwell. This looks promising, I'm going to try it after one other thing. I was messing around trying to see if I could figure it out this evening and noticed that I don't even have to make a change to the page for it to quit working for a public viewer. Clearing the cache destroys all the pages that have TVs and Chunks, but not the two that are straight up HTML. I'm wondering if I have a bad chunk somewhere. Going to check through the chunks again and see if I missed something. It started happening after a particular recent round of updates, so at least I have a starting point. I'll post here with results for anyone else who might end up doing the same - at this point, I'm assuming it's something stupid I missed.

Sounds like something related to the "view_unpublished" permission for Manager users. What do your server error and access logs have to say? A white-page on the front end is usually caused by a fatal PHP error, where the error doesn't even let MODX run enough to generate its own errors.
