Does anyone have a process for backing up their site (files and db)?
Ideally something that happens automatically on a daily basis for the db and a weekly basis for files?

I use https://www.codeguard.com/ for some sites. Got to pay for it but per site it's not much.

Thanks but I'm not hosting in the modx cloud - we have a standalone server.

is it somethign I can set up as a cron job? I have no idea about how though!

Sure. Just thought I'd mention it. I had a few non MODX cloud sites which moved to the platform specifically for that feature. Thought it was worth mentioning.

Is the standalone server a VPS running Plesk etc?

I've also used a product called Akeeba (standalone edition). I think originally it was for Joomla but now supports almost anything. It'll back up your site and database at predetermined times and there are various DropBox and GoogleDrive integrations.

I'm on cPanel rather than Plesk.
How are you finding the Modx cloud performance?

Excellent actually. Initially when the service started there were a few hiccups but that's a few years back. No problems since and they've since setup a status page: http://status.modxcloud.com/

                Support is speedy too.

Thanks - what has put me off is that we often host emails for clients too - do you just use a third party for that instead?

Generally have that on a different server.
I *think* there was talk of mail coming to MODX Cloud but can't be sure.

Someday, I hope to give UpgradeMODX a backup feature, but it probably won't appear any time soon.
