Answered Folders still on server but path in filesystem tree changed - hack or bug?

Hi, this is Modx 2.2.14.

I found my folders at core/components in the file tree were disappeared, and it turns out somehow the paths have changed, the files are all still on the server (I think they never changed their locations but not clear yet) but the file tree doesn't *see* them because of the path issue. Strangely hitpage is still there, but all of the other 10+ folders are not.

We are fixing now, either going to go to a backup or manually repair the paths. Any advice on that is appreciated. Using the backup is almost a costless solution as there have been little changes and, we haven't lost the changed files either, so I can just manually replace those. So the fix isn't going to be too tough (I hope).

What I am really interested is what could cause this, could it be a hack of my little site? Or is it a bug? Are my components becoming sentient and changing their *own* paths?? O_o

Its very weird, but set right by editing core.config.inc.php. We did migrate to a new hoster some time ago, but the files were right there and accessible to me just a month ago, after the migration.

Anyway all seems to be well now. Just weird and unexpected.

Sometimes a hosting provider will make changes to their servers without notifying their customers. This can cause differences in the paths.

I'm glad you got it sorted. Running Setup again might also have fixed the problem, though you would have had to upload the correct version of the setup folder.

Ok thanks Bob and Susan for the suggestions about it. Its just weird, quite unexpected, but fixed now.

It probably is a hosting issue, either some sort of follow on effect of the migration or a later adjustment by the hoster...Hmm I should check the other two Modx installs I have on this hoster and see if anything similar happened.
