Has anyone discussed the possibility of creating a "gist" repo with taggable code bits where people can contribute? There's a ton of stuff strewn about the web like Github and personal sites which is okay but it's time consuming to find. This may help ease the burden of documentation and such if there is a common place for folks to contribute, tag and comment on MODX-related code. It would also reduce the frustration in figuring out how to do some of the basic things that are (if available at all) most often buried in this forum. I for one would contribute and and ask way fewer questions in the forum, especially on CMP related stuff.

Just some feedback from the trenches.

Something like that though that site looked pretty weak on the meta data. Interesting not even a "MODX" tag on that site. I was thinking more of one specifically for MODX users.

Susan Ottwell has been working on a MODX Cook Book for a while that contains interesting tidbits collected from the forum and other sources: http://modxcookbook.com/

Mark Hamstra • Developer spending his days working on Premium Extras and a MODX Site Dashboard with the ability to remotely upgrade MODX and extras to make the MODX world a little better.

Tweet me @mark_hamstra, check my infrequent blog at markhamstra.com, my slightly more frequent ramblings at MODX.today or see code at Github.

Cookbook looks cool. I was envisioning something a little less structured, more like a library of recipes. WP has WPRecipes but that site is so WP like and doesn't work like a repo but more like a typical WP Blog site (no surprise there). Something along the lines of Snippler.com or phpsnips.com but for modx where users can contribute, tag, comment, vote/rank, and share instead of them being buried in the forums. Something like a public type of Gistbox might even be cool.

Maybe even integrate with the forum so when I use a code link in a post there can be an option to create a snippet in the snippets library with some tagging/categorization settings.

I have some code snippets at TagMyCode, but I think all of them are generic PHP solutions, so they wouldn't have MODX tags.

So here's an example of what I mean. I am attempting to use on of the ExtJS utilities included in MODEXT list at https://fossies.org/dox/modx-2.4.2-pl/fileupload_8js.html. I go like a good doobie to the sencha docs and because we're using ExtJS 3.4 just about every example linked in the forums is no longer available. It's nice to have these utilities built in, but finding working examples of how to use them is arduous and frustrating.

In my case I'm trying to add a file uploader inside a CMP create form and once the file is selected have the file uploaded to the server via ajax. Sounds simple enough. But it's taken the better part of a day and I can't see any examples on what this should look like using the existing utilities.
