Screenshots aren't just made with print screen, copying is not just done with right click and the page source is accessible to the browser, which means there is a way that can be inspected through browser tools.
It's harsh, but if you put an image online, you will not be able of preventing people from accessing that completely. The only thing you're doing is annoying your users.
Marketoonist takes a very nice approach to showing their bespoke cartoons. Rather than annoying their visitors, there's a clearly visible License button that lets you instantly purchase a license to use the image for specific situations. Here's an example: https://marketoonist.com/2015/11/banner-ads.html
People can still copy the image, but it's insanely easy to purchase the license, turning a problem ("people might steal my property") into a positive revenue stream ("people might buy a license").
Yeah, you're right.
People can always see the image in the source code.
But preventing "right-click" and "save as", will diminish the likelihood of stealing with 60%, as most basic users don't know source code.
People tend to choose "the way of least resistance", so when it's complicated to get the image, they will bounce (for some part).
It's like having your front door open : an open door will tempt a Saint to steal something.
But if you close your front door, they also can enter you house, but it's more complicated and difficult, so the chance are heavily reduced. Do you feel me ?
The code-scrambling seems a good solution (as I've seen with Google Apps etc), but I am not sure if this is possible with Modx ?
