One of my clients is experiencing something funky with only one of the forms on their site (there are three forms, all FormIt forms and built similarly). The form usually works great and has for a long time but only recently some of my client's customers have been complaining that this one form is not redirecting properly to a "Thank You" page on a successful submission if they had first missed a mandatory field and were forced to go back and fill it in. In other words, if the form complained that a mandatory field was not filled in and they then filled it in and submitted it, the form would sometimes not redirect to the "Thank You" page. The customer would be confused as to whether the information was sent successfully, which it always does...it just doesn't appear to because the page just reloads on itself again. The customer would then fill it in multiple times.
However, this is would only happen:
1. Extremely intermittently. To this day I cannot reproduce the problem here, no matter what browser or machine I use (various PCs and Macs)
2. When it is noticed, so far it has only happened while using Microsoft Internet Explorer 11. No one has exhibited the problem using any other browser or previous version of I.E.
3. Doesn't always happen with I.E. 11. We have a couple of computers here in the office running that version and cannot get it to experience the problem.
4. Only that one form, as far as we know. No other form on that site or any other site has demonstrated that problem.
So, has anyone experienced anything like this? I upgraded MODx to v. 2.4.1-pl from v. 2.2.5-pl (core>cache was cleaned out on upgrade) a few weeks ago. FormIt version is 2.2.7-pl. Is there something weird about I.E. v. 11 caching that would produce buggy behavior sometime after my MODx upgrade? This form, by the way, tends to be used by the same visitors over and over again (nationwide product dealers filling in warranty information, so they do visit and use the form over and over, leading me to suspect some sort of browser caching issue).
Thank you in advance.
