    FormIt 2.2.7
    ModX 2.4.1

Email service is well configured in the CMS. The CMS successfully sends password-reset emails to users.

When using FormIt, ModX Error Log reports:
2015-10-27 17:14:16 [FormIt] An error occurred while trying to send the email. SMTP Error: data not accepted.SMTP server error: DATA END command failed Detail: 5.7.60 SMTP; Client does not have permissions to send as this sender
    SMTP code: 550

I wonder if this a ModX or a mail service miss-configuration or a FormIt bug.

    Please help. Thanks!

looks like a configuration problem with your hosting, possibly in your php.ini file

create a snippet which uses the mail function to send a test email to any email address and test it that way

also ensure that the mail address your using to send emails from exists. so for example if your modx formit is using [email protected] you need to ensure that [email protected] is an actual mailbox of your domain. and you wont be able to use a different domain other than the domain modx resides on.

so for example if modx is installed on/domain name is domain1.com and your modx formit code is setup to send an email from domain2.com this will report the exact error, becuase modx does not have access to domain2.com to send an email on behalf of.

Thanks for your answer. I'm still looking into this issue.

I've used the QuickEmail snippet by BoBRay to test the mail service and works perfectly.

It's just the FormIt snippet that is giving me issues :-(

Is it possible that you're sending twice, once when the form first loads and again when submitted? The first send would have empty fields and produce the errors.

It never sent anything. It is a FormIt bug that causes mail authentication to fail unless you explicitly define the emailSender variable when calling the snippet.

I've already reported this issue: https://github.com/Sterc/FormIt/issues/67

Thanks Bob anyways for looking into this.
