Hi
I create HTML emails for promotions.
I currently design then using flat HTML files, but have many areas that are repeatable (header, footer etc).
Also, the technique I use changes as email clients are updated.
I was wondering if I could build the emails using modx, as I can import them into my email software from a URL.
Has anyone tried this approach?

Yes. I used the DADA mailer, and it would take a URL. I created a resource in MODX and used that. I gave it its own custom alias for the URL for DADA to use, i.e. "mail.html".
I kept archives by duplicating the email resource, then editing the original to be the new email. That way the original was always the "live" one. The copy, with its alias based on the title as usual, became the archive copy.
Ok thanks.
So structurally I'm thinking of creating a number of chunks (preheader, header, product, footer etc) and then calling in TVs to populate these?
The only problem is that each email could end up being different structurally, so I can see me ending up with an unmanageable number of templates.
Alsi the order of content will quite often change
