The extra repository has for some time needed an upgrade.
Mostly it just needs enhancing what is already there. Some simple tricks could make the experience ten times better.
First of all it needs pagination. Right now you can only see the first five extras on the frontpage when sorting/querying for something. Okey, so Wayfinder, getResources, FormIt, Gallery and Login are the five most popular downloads, but what is the sixth? Seventh? Why is such a basic functionality as pagination lacking from this view?
The second feature I'd like to see is more "most downloaded" deltas. Right now it displays the 7 most downloaded extras of all time. However, the revo repository is many years old and some of the most popular ones should not be used anymore. I'd recommend listing the 7 most downloaded the past 3 months as default. Also allowing to display the most downloaded the last 24 hours, the last week, the last month, the last three months, the last year and all time would be a nice enhancement.
These things could be added to both the manager and the modx.com/extras page. I am pretty sure adding this would benefit everyone and it should not be that time consuming to implement.
