    Hi

    I have recently developed my first modx site on my laptop using mamp.
    I zipped it up, and dumped my db in order to migrate to the web server, but I cannot get it to work online. I reran the setup but still no joy.

    Any migration tips?
    I even tried installing a fresh copy and then pulling in my db but still won't work!!

    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Loving modx, but this has me stumped!

    Andy

      What errors have you received?
        TinymceWrapper: Complete back/frontend content solution.
        Harden your MODX site by passwording your three main folders: core, manager, connectors and renaming your assets (thank me later!)
        5 ways to sniff / hack your own sites; even with renamed/hidden folders, burst them all up, to see how secure you are not.

        When trying to view the site I got a 503 error. Site temporarily unavailable. Tried to view the manager and it was the same.

          Check the path in the three config.core.php files (MODX root, manager, connectors directories). It should be the actual path to the core.

          Also, check all the paths and URLs in the core/config/config.inc.php file.

            Thanks - I'm not sure if my path to the core should be just /, or /home/andy/subdomainname/core/

            Strangely, I can see in the core/config/config.inc.php it's:
            $modx_core_path= '/home/me/subdomainname/core/';

            but in the root/config.core.php it's:
            define('MODX_CORE_PATH', dirname(__FILE__) . '/core/');

            and in manager/config.core.php it's:
            define('MODX_CORE_PATH', dirname(dirname(__FILE__)) . '/core/');

            I've tried making them consistent, but nothing seems to work!

              I seem to have fixed it.
              The issue I THINK was down to the location of my subdomain.
              in cPanel, it defaults to creating the subdomain in http://domain/subdomain - but I created the subdomain one directory BEFORE the htdocs directory - so that the files are self-container - but I think Modx took exception to this!!

              I just reinstalled in a subdomain within htdocs, and all is working fine!

              Thanks for your support.
              Love your book by the way - it's being passed round the office as we speak since us moving over form Wordpress to Modx!!! smiley
