When a page that is non-existent is enter, it should've gone to the home page (ID 1), but site is going to another page (ID 70). Check the system settings and error_page was set to 1.
I created a 404 page (ID 1442) and changed error_page to that id. However, when I visit domain.com/not-a-page ... I'm still being redirected to the page that is ID 70.
What am I missing?

Only thing that springs to mind is a redirect somewhere, do you have any redirect add-ons or something in the .htaccess ?

That's what I thought - checked the .htaccess too. I'll see if Client added some redirect plugin.

Yep, they added Redirector and some of the entries overwrite the error_page
Non-MODX issue at this point. thanks for the 2nd pair of eyes/idea.

Check your logs, I had to remove Redirector from a 2.3 install recently, it was throwing tons of REGEX errors and simply didn't work properly. Found this too
