Disable all plugins. Delete the core/cache/ directory. Clear your browser cache and cookies. Check your server's PHP error logs. If the System Settings page shows, turn off compress_js and compress_css. That's all I can think of offhand.

Now you can re-enable the plugins one at a time to see which one (if any) is causing the problem.

I only have ACE (plus Wayfinder and FormIt). I reactivated them and everything works fine. Maybe ACE caused the problem ... ?

It's possible, but I think it's more likely that your cache got corrupted somehow. What version of MODX are you running?

It's the latest version (a new installation a few days ago).

That's unusual with a new install, though fairly common with an upgrade.
