I had a similar problem with MIGXDb - I wanted a standard format for my telephone numbers. I just used the 'MIGXdb-settings' > 'Hook Snippets' > 'aftersave' to read the phone number from the database, reformat it and save the formatted phone number back to the database.
I am not sure how to access that hook from MIGX TV - but it looks like they both use the same update.php code, so it should be possible.
Another alternative might be to create a custom TV and use the 'inputTVtype' option.
