This is completely up to your PHP session configuration. By default (or in most configurations), the session cookies last as long as the user’s browser remains open. You can customize this if you have access to modify the php.ini or use .htaccess to override certain values in it. See http://www.php.net/manual/en/session.configuration.php and http://www.php.net/configuration.changes for more information.

In our upcoming Revolution releases, all session handling and configuration will be more easily customized and will be using a session database rather than PHP’s session files, by default.

        Hello again,
When you say everything about ssesions are going to be added to DB tables in a future release, are talking about the modx CMS or the WebLogin Snippet? just a doubt. Thanks for the previous answer.

The Weblogin snippet uses the sessions created by MODx. Revolution uses a DB-based session handler, wherease Evolution (current) uses the built-in PHP session handling, typically filesystem based.

Talking about the MODx CMS core user session, which would be used by any login component built on the CMS.
