adding news to my site

I’m developing as website which required a news / events section.

As i’m fairly new to MODx i’m not sure on the correct way to achieve this. Would using Ditto do the trick?

Yes, Ditto is just what you want. You might also want to use the NewsPublisher snippet if you want users to enter news items in the front end.

The best tutorial is to install a copy of MODx with the demo site content. It has everything, and you can examine it and poke at it at your leisure.

I looked around and most of the tutorials I found are for blogging with Ditto.

It’s pretty simple, though.

You just create a container document in the MODx Manager (just a document with the "container" checkbox marked). Then, under that document, you create one new document for each news story (later you can add doing it with NewsPublisher).

Then, on the page where you want the news stories to appear, you put the Ditto call.

Instead of 8, use the document ID of your news container document.
