TinyMCE doesn’t start by default when I edit a page although on the configuration page TinyMCE is selected
as the default editor.
I can start it just fine with the dropdown box below the edit area, but that’s pretty annoying given the fact
that we have a lot of editing to do and are on a pretty tight schedule.
So the big question here is: how can I get TinyMCE to start directly upon starting editing a page?

Sounds like your user configuration is overriding the global default. Check there and see.
