    Hello,

    My website (www.hmdpllc.com) is not working properly. The home page appears, but the rest of the pages are blank. My developer is no longer in business. My site is hosted by Godaddy. I contacted them for help but they could not offer any help. Has anyone encountered this problem and have a solution. By the way, I am not a developer, so hopefully its a quick fix. smiley

      It is quite impossible to tell without more information. For example, what version of MODX are you using?

        That is a very old, very badly designed site, the home page has a number of HTML errors in it. I'd be surprised if it can be easily repaired.

          Is is possible that something got messed up with the htaccess & friendly URLs?

          I can only navigate to that home page .html file, but none of the other links work. However, if you navigate to one of the other pages using a resource number, the pages load.

          I guessed and tossed in a 5 and the page successfully loaded. http://www.hmdpllc.com/index.php?id=5

          Ask goDaddy support to see if there is a file named .htaccess in the root. Perhaps it got deleted by accident? [ed. note: mmcgee last edited this post 11 years, 2 months ago.]

            Doing "View Source" on any page (when they fail) shows no content except this:

            <!--include virtual="/${GD_ERROR_DOC}" -->

            That's not anything to do with MODX, but I don't know what it is.

            If there is a core/cache/ directory, try manually deleting all files in it (be careful not to delete the whole core directory -- you just want to clear the cache). If there isn't a core directory, you're using MODX Evolution rather than MODX Revolution.

            If that doesn't work, one temporary solution (based on mmcgee's discovery) might be to open the database in PhpMyAdmin and find the modx_system_settings table. In that, there will be a setting with 'friendly_urls' in the key field. Change the 'value' field from 1 to 0. Then clear the core/cache directory. If that fixes things, it's definitely a Friendly URL problem and the problem is almost certainly in the .htaccess file in the MODX root. If you look at that file, it should be clear that it's a MODX file. Maybe your host has overwritten it (or some hacker has).

            Another possibility is that mod_rewrite has somehow gotten turned off on the server.

              Would this be related to SSIs? I found a post related to issues where someone was attempting to "trying to include a file from one of my subdomains into my main domain"

              This page link also loads another navigation menu—which seems odd to me: http://www.hmdpllc.com/index.php?id=5
              Wild guess here, but is it possible the developer was running multiple sites from one version of modx and either they or goDaddy split up the sites for the customers, but then did not fully account for how the CMS was constructed to run them all?

              Solving this puzzle might require more information, and more than likely a peek under the hood to see how this modx site was constructed.

                I was going to ask if the Manager worked, but the OP seems to have gone missing.
