Hi!
I want to create a simple event manager where events are shown in a list (with some variables like, place, date, venue...) and users have the possibility to register for events, get confirmation emails and so on...
I found
http://rtfm.modx.com/extras/revo/eventmanager but this seems to be stuck in early alpha stage.
Does anyone has a suggestion what i could use for this?

Thanks, I think churchEvents is great but it lacks the functionality to register for events, or am i missing something? Let me know!

migxCalendars might also be a startpoint.
But you will need to have your register-form created by yourself and a formit-hook-snippet, which does registering the people to events.
A table is allready there, where one could register peoples to events.
