Problem passing javascripot variable in template file

Hi,

I have a problem passing a js variable to a function.
When I use alert to print that vars I am getting the correct values but while I pass them in a function its not outputting the value.
ex var s2=10;
alert(s2) / /prints 10

function(s2) // passes s2 instead of 10.
