    Hi All;

    I love MODX and am using it on every project I work on currently with great success. However I was recently brought a small newspaper project where the site is currently on WordPress and the paper is looking to go to a better platform and improved design. There is no one technical at the paper and there are a few key goals:

    Easy for non - tech people to publish
    Automate news feeds
    Migrate old posts from WP
    Manage advertisers
    Force styles
    Speedy search and page load

    The site publishes new stories a few times a day. Most of the site is free but they do have a subscription section too. Presently there are approximately 7,000 articles and growing. They will need an app where the stories automatically feed.

    Is MODX the best solution? Will the site grow too big?

      MODX Revolution is used successfully on some huge sites. I think it would be a great choice, and I suspect that the code to force styles would be easier to implement in MODX than in many other CMS platforms.

      For non-tech people to publish, you can customize the Manager to hide everything that might scare them, or (I think easier), you can let them log in and publish using a very simplified form in the front end with NewsPublisher.

      The only catch I can think of is that MODX is not as slick as WP when it comes to submitting articles for review before publishing them. With NewsPublisher, or in the Manager, you can force everything to be unpublished and let an editor publish things, but it's not quite the same.

        There is your "Stagecoach" add-on, which works very well to provide a review and update feature.

            StageCoach is good for staging future updates, but not a very smooth tool for submitting stuff for approval.

            I started a spinoff extra in 2012 specifically for submitting articles for approval, but never had time to finish it.
