    well I think with css you can do .bxslider img{width:100%; height:auto;}

    I always use some JS for that.

        You could also insert it inline as a background-image and then use background-size:cover; in the stylesheet. Using width:100%; height:auto; there's always a chance that if an image doesn't fit proportionally to your container's size you will show some of the background of the container. Cover makes sure all the background area is 'covered'. For IE8 compatibility you can use this http://louisremi.github.io/background-size-polyfill/

          fourroses666 - THANK YOU!!!!

          I am new to MODX so looking at how best to allow a user to upload images to the slider.

          Take a look at modmore moreGallery. If setting up a lot of galleries in the site, it's a terrific MODx extra.

          Or you can use MIGx to control the insertion of images. I'm not sure or have never tried to upload images via MIGx. I just upload them to my image file directory, then load them via the MIGx TV.

            May I ask an amateur question while you're here? When adding images to an image slider, do the images need to be the exact size of the container? I don't mind doing the work cropping and editing images, just wondering if there was an easier way rather than editing every image for the slider, and what happens when a user wants to upload any image they want and get inconsistent sized slider images?

              you can let the cms crop your images with pthumb.

              or Image+ if I'm right. (I'm an Evo user)
