    hey guys,

Im wondering if you have any tips for working with git?
As most of the stuff is kept in db do you have any scripts that dup the db or some other kind of db version control?

What is your git workflow and how do you make changes between servers?
    Normally I would have:
    a local dev -> (laptop)
staging -> (dev.somedomain.com where client can accept the change before deploying it to the live server)
production server (somedomain.com) live website - server

I would normally some kind of deployment platform like ftploy or stash via ftp to the dev staging and then to production

what is your preference? how do you keep the same version of the site on production and your local development environment?
    thanks in advance!
    Daniel

        Thanks sottwell,

Ive looked before on Menno Pietersens video and his blog. Started to work with browser sync, static server and elementhelper, but had some issues recently with modx extensions and 2.3.3-pl where files are not imported into modx on creation or files were not refreshed in modx after editing them.

          Hi Daniel,

Nice to hear that you liked the video.

I have a updated workflow now, in short:

          • I work on localhost via WAMP
          • Version controll my files in BitBucket via Git
          • Manually import/export databse when needed between laptop/workstation (not great but as a solo Freelance is fine)
          • Gulp, Saas, Bourbon and Browser-Sync for front-end dev work
          • In MODX I like to use Element Helper

Will work on a updated workflow post soon.
