    1) copied current version into a vhosts root dir.
    2) ran install page
    3) changed permissions as directed by site:
    chmod -R 777 on:

    • /assets/export
    • ets/images
    • ets/cache
    • ger/includes/config.inc.php
    4) got green light on all items (stuff writable etc).
    5) continued on to the /manager/ page
    6) changed the site name, hit save, but site name reverts straight back to the default "My MODx Site"
    7) tried changing stuff and saving, but changes are always lost.
    8) If I try and click on any other link in the manager, even help, it stays on the System configuration page.

Im stuck - the actual site works (I can brows to it), but the manger is stuck in System configuration page.

I tried going through each tab on the system confuration page, making small uselless changes, but still wont save.

No error messages on the page, nothing.

Ive scoured the web - cant find anyone with the same problem.

I checked the db using phpmyadmin - I can see that its created loads of tables and they are full of data.

Server is running Fedora core, my SQL 4, php 5, apache 2.0

    Simon.

Ok, found the ***** problem - modx manager doesnt work with firefox 3

Some warning on the home or install page would be nice - save hours of anguish, cursing and day rueing.

I’ve been using FF 3/Mac for some time now both on my own sites locally and remote, and some client sites I’ve built, no problems at all huh

Maybe it’s something to do with one of the extensions you’ve installed? The Manager does use a lot of javascript; sometimes these things can step on each other. Do you by any chance have NoScript installed and active for your domain?

(well, other than some sort of odd bug involving Ditto and Hebrew introtext content causing it to crash, but I’m told that FF 3/Windows has no problem with it)

Maybe related (or not) but I’ve experienced problems recently with Firebug 1.2.0b3 plugin on FF3/mac - stopped all javascript working (occasionally it did work but it was all a bit random and 9 times out of 10 it failed)

If you do have Firebug 1.2.0b3 plugin installed, I found upgrading to 1.2.0b4 seems to have helped a lot - so far, no issues.

Ah, that may be it, I run with Firebug disabled unless I’m actually working on something.
