Marquee widget—IE compatible?

Any insights into this widget would be greatly appreciated. In particular:

• How does one get this widget to work with IE (6 and 7)? I have a list of about 200 company names that scroll vertically, but in IE the scroller keeps restarting after about the 30th line. (The companies are within <p></p> tags.) All other browsers scroll the entire list with no problem.
• What the heck is the "modifier" parameter? There seems to be zero documentation on this anywhere.
• Is it possible to set/modify the scroller so there is no gap between the end of the loop and the beginning?
• Was this widget built ground-up by someone in the modx coding team, or was it borrowed/modified from an existing resource?

Now, I know the whole marquee thing is of questionable design/usability value but, alas, the client really wants it. If someone can help me with this modx version, that’d be great as it runs pretty smoothly. I’ve tried an XML/Flash-based marquee, but it really bogs down the browser.
