    Hi, i have e modx MODx Revolution 2.2.16, with 5000 pages, and i have more pages with 25 template variabiles.
    In backend for open the pages modx employs 25 sec !!! Instead the page without TV employs 3 sec.
    The site in on dedicated server with the last apache version, i try update modx on 2.2.3 and move on reseller hosting of skytoaster but the result is the same. My customer is angry and i don't able do a debug on this situation.
    In my dedicated i have the possiblity of use a system of master/slave database, but in modx i don't found a tutorial for modify a config.php.
    The version of php is PHP 5.4.16 [ed. note: cristianb88 last edited this post 11 years, 5 months ago.]

      I try add this option to config:

      $config_options = array (
          xPDO::OPT_CONN_MUTABLE => true,
          xPDO::OPT_CONNECTIONS => array(
              array(
                  'dsn' => 'mysql:host=xxx.xx.xx.1;dbname=dbname;charset=latin1',
                  'username' => 'username',
                  'password' => 'password',
                  'options' => array(xPDO::OPT_CONN_MUTABLE => false),
                  'driverOptions' => array(),
              ),
              array(
                  'dsn' => 'mysql:host=xxx.xx.xx.2;dbname=dbname;charset=latin1',
                  'username' => 'username',
                  'password' => 'password',
                  'options' => array(xPDO::OPT_CONN_MUTABLE => false),
                  'driverOptions' => array(),
              ),
          ),
          xPDO::OPT_CONN_INIT => array(xPDO::OPT_CONN_MUTABLE => false)
      );

      where:
      xxx.xx.xx.1 == master
      xxx.xx.xx.2 == slave (read only)

      But backend doesn't improves and frontend i vary fast but, sometimes recive 404 error for fontend page.

        By default, MODX clears almost the entire site cache when you save a resource, that could be part of the issue. You might try the CacheMaster plugin to see if that helps.

          Are you running APC cache or something similar? It could really help you.

            CacheMaster work in backend?
            Sort of. When the site cache is cleared and you load up a different object, like a resource or chunk, MODX has to go to the DB for it, and for its TVs. With CacheMaster enabled, the cache is only cleared for the resource you save, so moving to another object in the Manager should go faster.

            That said, I think Bruno17 is probably right that your major slowdown is the redrawing of the resource and element trees (especially the Resource tree). CacheMaster might help with that since I think the tree is cached, but I've never tested it. If this is the cause, though, Collections could make a very big difference. Is it the resource-tree with that many resources, which slows it down, or are you using Collections to manage them?

                No i don't use Collections, you should i use Collections ?
                I found a little problem, for speed the update page. The problem is the galleryalbum list i remove the preview image, because i have 250 gallery and each resouce list this for three album.

                  If you have many resources in the tree, it can get very slow to load them all.
                  Then its a good idea to have them in Collections.
                  The resource-tree will load fast and you can search for resources in the Collections-grid.

                    You might try switching to PHP 5.5 with opcaching enabled to improve performance. Switching to Collections is also a great starting point. You might also try adding some server monitoring to further diagnose the problem.
