OK, I have been searching for an answer forever now.
I hope someone here can help.
My install script is in a loop, it displays nothing but if I stop the browser, view source I can see that it has an error, and a meta refresh.
The error is: Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot find save handler files in /[path to script]/install/index.php on line 10
I recently updated my server, rebuilding php with curl ssl support.
Are there any settings in the httpd.conf file that could effect PHP sessions?
Any other thought on what the problem might be? I have gone through my php.ini files but maybe you know something I don’t wink

I appreciate any help on this. I think this is goiing to be one of those weird ones.

It’s trying to find the location where the session files should be saved. It probably got some kind of default in your newly compiled PHP that doesn’t match your server setup. Usually the default is /tmp.

it seems to be related to my httpd.conf file.
I think that it may be due to some settings I have there that are specific to running the MIVA storefront engine.
Since reverting to my old httpd, I seem to have corrected the problem.
strange, I expected it to be a php.ini issue.
Hope I can locate the exact cause.

You can have php settings in the httpd.conf file just as you can in a .htaccess file, either globally or on a virtual server basis.
