My client noticed they were getting weird characters in emails received from eForm Email enquries. I contacted the host and they tried a few things but the weird characters are still coming through. I thought perhaps I should ask in the forum if other users have experienced this - and how you fixed it.
Here's an example.
If you send something like...
Just testing the for"m with the wie'rd apos-tra"ph"es
That comes through in the eForm email as (spaces added between code and separated onto new line as the forum was cleaning up those characters:

The hosting advised that
Your PHP mail() function needs to use 5th argument for your envelope
sender as ‘-f [email protected]’ to properly send the sender address.
So the mail() function needs to be changed to:
mail('[email protected]', 'the subject', 'the message', null, '-f
[email protected]');
I am not really sure what this means but what they did for me was:
We created one test email address under your account. I have entered this test email address as the envelop sender in the php.in file.
mail.force_extra_parameters = -f [email protected]
This did not have any effect. The weird character issues remained - I don't think they have any idea to be honest.
The only thing that did seem to work was changing &sendAsText=`1` to &sendAsText=`0` but then the formatting of the emails is not as nice (including paragraphs in textareas not being honoured - textarea content comes through as one long line).
Any ideas?
