I need variable help... I think. This is what...

I am trying to do.

I am going to make some custom galleries, to display photosets that I have on my server. Each photo set is in it’s own directory. I am going to have, right away, about 30 seperate galleries.

Instead of hard coding each gallery by hand, where I’d have to keep typing the url for the thumbnail and the main image, such as...

<a href="http://location.of/image/002.jpg"><img src="http://location.of/image/th_002.jpg"></a>
<a href="http://location.of/image/003.jpg"><img src="http://location.of/image/th_003.jpg"></a>

Is there someway I can set a variable for the page so that I can use the same page over and over and only have to change the variable so all the images will point to the right gallery? blah blah

One word. MaxiGallery.

Regarding variables, you could use a Template Variable and use it as you describe (you almost had the right syntax):
And in the template variable value you would put the path. You can set the variable value for each page.

I also recommend that you check out MaxiGallery, one great advantage is that it has full image management features (sort, captions, hide..).
