Articles friendly URL bug? no 404 generated

Hi,
Im setting up my 404 page and discovered that Articles does not give a 404 on a nonexisting URL
Ex. http://mydomain.com/blog/2014/05/11/TEST/
gives me a proper Blog page. But http://mydomain.com/blog/2014/05/11/TEST-1234/ , which does not exist, gives me a list of blogposts containing the original page... ?
I want it to go to my 404 page and log the 404 with 'LogPageNotFound'.
How can i change this behaviour? or is it a bug?

Hi, Ralph Zelf. Have you managed to solve this problem? I have the same issue. It is also a common issue for SEO. I am surprised that no one posted a solution here.

MODX redirects users to the page designated by the error_page System Setting when a page isn't found. From the code, it looks like Articles does the same. If you change the error_page setting to the ID of your 404 page, it should go there once you clear the cache.

do yo mean there is an error_page setting specific for Articles? I have set the system setting error_page. But that doesn't work.
Articles still gives me an index page when an article should give a 404.
so i assume its a bug

Looking at the Article router code, Articles appears to use the general System Setting, though I'm not sure I have the current version of Articles on my local machine. The code is difficult to follow and it looks like the error_page may only apply if you're using a date-based search.
