I've set up sliders and single galleries in MODx, so fairly comfortable with the process. I have a full screen overlay slider I want to use, and have worked out the basics for getting my thumbnails, etc. Where I am a bit anxious is how to structure this in my directories.

My project is a basic real estate site. I have resource page for each property which serves as a detail page. I'd like to build in a click to view gallery of photos... and this is where I get anxious.

My plan is to just set up a resource of each gallery, install a MIGx TV, and store each gallery set in it's own folder (making it easier to load each photo into MIGx rather than hunting through what could easily be a couple hundred images. MIGx is certainly a good way to go I think in that it will allow me to drag photos into the order I want them displayed.

My reasoning for creating a separate resource for the gallery is not add extra weight to the main detail page. I'd like that one to load as quickly as possible.

Is there an easier approach I can take—or am I on the right track?

I am defaulting to MoreGallery now for any galleries due to the fact that the upload interface is amazing, and it can be stored in separate resources yet called up easily throughout the site, even with ajax loading. The only thing I can't do with it yet is call up latest entries pulled from every gallery, which might actually come in handy for your purpose.

MIGX would work nicely, but you will still have to create a folder for each resource. MoreGallery does this for you, as well as creating 250x250px thumbnails upon upload.

While it's a premium Extra, sometimes $26 is worth it when you can offer your clients a simple way to do something that will need to be done thousands of times. Asking clients to create folders for each real estate gallery might make both of you crazy over time.

Hey Hey Hey! Long time no chat. Coincidentally, I just loaded moreGallery and am trying to figure it out.

I'll be creating all of the galleries for the client — but I still want it to be easy for me too!

with MIGX, you can have dynamic mediasources, too, which would create the resource-specific folders for you.
there is a Tut at rtfm, how you can do that.

Thanks Bruno: I have been reviewing the info from the forum post at http://rtfm.modx.com/extras/revo/migx/migx.tutorials/migx.use-resource-specific-mediasource-and-multifile-uploader and will take a look at Graham's youTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dE9-oZCqy9o

Graham uses phpThumbOf, but I've been using pThumb. Guessing that is OK.

Bit overwhelmed at the moment. I am sure I will have questions.
