ModX Evolution: Turn on System Tab

Hello, I have no system tab in a base and previous installation of ModX evolution. How would I restore this? I would like to port this over to ModX Revolution so I have it's housed CORE file structure, however, I don't seem to have any ability to export my old site. My export as static HTML doesn't actually show up in my FTP system or give me an opportunity in the CMS to download the export.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello fourroses666, thank you for the reply.
I am unsure of what version I'm running of evolution on the client requested site, but when I installed the latest version of evolution (developer and non) on the new and desired server, the system tab was not available either in the base installation, and those were the latest and greatest from the website. When I installed Revolution, I was given full tab accessibility though. Looking into the FTP, it seems the evolution lack a "core" folder that the Revolution files contain.

Additionally when I do an HTML Static dump, I can see the files in the file manager, however, FTP wise the files do not show up in my export folder.

I am the only user on the website, and retain full admin privileges unless there is some way to change those without breaking the system.


Thoughts?

Evo is completely different. There is, as far as I know, not an easy Evo to Revo update. Never did try thow. Maybe someone else has more experience in updating Evo to Revo.

If you really want to have the tab you could try and add an user and give all rules, then log in as that user. I have a tab called "Export Website".
Then the html files are in folder /assets/export/

Good to have confirmation. I'd believed that to be the case, but with how terrible the search is for "evolution" compared to "revolution" due to the naming convention it was hard to nail down that as a truth.

I did try your suggestion of creating a new user with administrator level privileges. It didn't change any of the tab structure unfortunately. I still lack the ability to pull files from the export folder found under assets as well. And looking at the installation from the fresh files downloaded on the ModX site, it's acting the exact same way with Evolution.

But if you manage to export your site, I don't know how the import looks like on Revolution.
I think there are tools for that. I don't know your skills and experience with modx are.

You're spot on with the expectation of exportation. Sadly the files are still unseen to me. I actually have found the Migrating from Evo to Revo option this morning and have been thumbing my way through it as we've been trading messages. It's not 100% accurate to what I'm seeing thus far in the instances I'm working with, however, I think at this point we can both be sure that these are not the normal runs of the Evo CMS.

If this doesn't work I will make an attempt to try the second link you offered up. Sadly the site is a few hundred pages in size historically and would take a long time to recreate using 1-to-1 transfer methods, so I'm hoping the migration options from evo to revo will pan out.

Any other thoughts, please feel free to offer them up, otherwise I really appreciate troubleshoot with me.

I should think after update the tabs needs to show up. I would have updated to the latest version first, check for hacks, check for blank install, use different hostings. anyway its pritty weird. on the top right you can see your current version I think.

At this point I've moved on to porting the setup over to a Revolution installation. The up-to-date fresh installation of Evo didn't produce the needed results so I figured it's best to move to something that wasn't acting up. There are some plugins no longer being supported, but that's a replacement fix on my end to find proper substitutions. Overall I'm going to consider the matter close. Thanks for all the assistance in trying to wrap my head around this odd installation of the CMS.
