    Hello,
I'm trying to make a MODX website for testing, rather than editing on the live MODX website.
I'm following this tutorial: Moving Your Site to a New Server, or to Root from Subfolder (publishing suffolder or development site) http://rtfm.modx.com/revolution/2.x/administering-your-site/moving-your-site-to-a-new-server
however this requires SSH access, which my current webhost doesn't allow.
I can FTP the remote MODX website files to my local MODX website.
I think I also need to FTP the remote MODX website database, but not sure?
Is the Dumping your Database command relevant to me, because I can only FTP the remote MODX website?
Do I then start working on the Updating your Config Files to make the remote MODX website work on my local MODX website?

Do you have access to cPanel and PhpMyAdmin (through cPanel)?

This Webhost has no cPanel of SSH access. I just FTP the files.
Yes, I have access to PhpMyAdmin.

If it's not a really big site, you can use Vapor to package it and then install the package on the new dev site.

There is an Extra that you can install, it's not approved but it does work well, I use it all the time to package up starter sites. http://modx.com/extras/package/vapor

Vapor has a few minor issues, such as if your site is too big, for example lots of large images or video files, it can time-out or run out of memory allowance for processing; this is a limitation of PHP from the browser. But most of the time it works within a few seconds, and you just download the resulting transport.zip package in the core/packages folder, put it in the core/packages folder of your new site, then using the "Search Locally for Extras" option simply install it like any other package. You also need to be logged in to the Manager of the original site in order for Vapor to have the correct permissions to access everything for packaging.

Thank you, however I find the Vapor snapshot package isn't recognised by the MODX package installer?
