Hi there..
I’ve done a slideshow with XML and external images and am now trying to view it in modx but without luck..
Within assets/flash i have created a folder called "test" within the folder i have placed my swf-file, a xml-document and a folder called "images" with some images in it.
When I try to show the flash file on a page by adding it with TinyMCE/QuickEdit I can load the background-color of the movie but nothing else happens.
When I open the swf directly by typing in the src URL in my browser, it shows nicely.
I have searched the forums and found that it might have something to do with modx treating every page as index.php and thus the paths does not add up when trying to reach images in a different folder than the swf-file.. but I cannot find where to edit my path so it is able to locate the images... I have tried changing the image paths called in the xml-file from just "images/001.jpg" to "assets/flash/test/images/001.jpg" but that does not help.
Any suggestions as to what to do? .....I really need to work with a dynamic slideshow as my client wants me to add 10-15 images a month..
I’ve found with Flash/XML & MODx it’s best to reference everything with the full path.
Time consuming but at least it eliminates one possible issue.
But in what way? Because writing the full path in the xml dosn’t do the job...
hello,
can you post up the xml and actionscript that you’re using so i can take a look.,
I agree with grahoom, show us an XML example and your connector for the XML.
I’m in the middle of a project that uses Flash, XML and MODx too at
http://www.spevco.biz/53.html
The content isn’t displaying correctly in FF atm, but I was on a tight deadline to show the client something, and they use IE
I’m using TV’s in the page to define the folder that contains the thumbnail and the normal imagery. Each page has a child document with a blank template that is calling a custom snippet to grab the TV’s from it’s parent and use those to generate the XML for the flash document.
If you show us some of the code, I’m sure (hope) we can help.
Taff
