I am using the Login plugin to log users in and register them to certain groups. It would be really handy to set a specific cookie lifetime for each group.

I know a global session_cookie_lifetime setting exists in System Settings but is there another way to do this for just certain user groups (or even just certain users)?

    Many thanks!

You should be able to use a group or a user setting, session_cookie_lifetime, which should override the System Setting.

Thanks Sottwell but I am a little confused. You mean I would have to create my own System Setting for each user group? Or is there a GUI way to do this?

When updating both users and user groups you have a "Settings" tab that allows you to add custom settings specific to that user or group. I believe that's what Sottwell is referring to.

There are four locations for settings, and supposedly they will override the others in this order:

            User Settings
            Group Settings
            Context Settings
            System Settings
