Modx support for the latest PHP version (5.5/5.6)

I'm currently running my Modx Revolution 2.2 on some PHP 5.3 version and I have the opportunity to switch to a newer version. I suppose that PHP 5.4 would be the safe way to go but what about 5.5 or 5.6? I'm not really happy with the backend speed so any improvement is welcomed and the latest versions of PHP should be faster. Unfortunately, there are some breaking changes in those versions of PHP. Is Modx ready?

I'm using PHP 5.6.2 locally with no problems, the MODX Cloud is reporting 5.4.34, and my SkyToaster server is also using 5.4.34.

If I recall correctly, the last PHP issue MODX had involved the placement of a hyphen - in regular expressions, and that was some time ago. So as long as you keep your MODX and your extras up-to-date, you should be fine.

Okay, I'm running PHP 5.6 and I haven't encountered any problems so far. I think it's safe to assume that it works as it should.

We are also running 5.6.6, with the xPDOAPC as cache Handler, all fine and nice speed
