I have background="images/yada.jpg" within table tags and TINYMCE removes them.
tinymce sucks in so many ways because it removes so much code. Nor does it even tell me it’s going to remove code either...it just does it. So how do I adjust the setting(s) that tell it to stop effing with my code?
This parsing BS would be just fine for a site being built from scratch but this is not the case for what I’m doing. I’m taking a previously built site(not by me) and putting into modx.

Why not just disable TinyMCE while you’re adding stuff?

Check the TinyMCE plugin, there are some configuration options there.
I know there are some options you can set
Something similar to:
allow_tags: table[background,id]
but I am not sure how to set those options in modx
wouldn’t it just be simpler to completely disable tinymce?
