Hello, I am working on creating a ModX site from our current Joomla site, and slowly starting to get the hang of ModX. Our current site has a lot of custom Joomla modules that we need to move over and I was wondering what the best practice for that would be. Would my best option be:

    1. Rewrite as best I can the current MVC to one file and upload the PHP file to use as a static Snippet
    2. Run all my DB calls in a Snippet, then use getChunk to populate the page

I know it's not good practice to use HTML in a Snippet, so just looking for some insight, and some of these modules are pretty complex. Thank you.

It really depends on what the modules do and where they get the data from.
You can try to create xpdo-packages (directory, schema, classes) from the modules-tables.
MIGX can help to do so.
Then, in most cases, I think, you can use existing snippets, for example migxLoopCollection from MIGX - package, to get the items listed.

you can buy me a beer, if you like MIGX

Thank you, I'll take a look at that and see if it will work.
